If you belong to an Indian household, the legend of turmeric has been well engraved in your brain. Be it a cold (haldi doodh to the rescue) or a wound (put some oil and haldi on it!) turmeric is a pretty popular remedy.
Its benefits haven’t gone unnoticed by the international community, with extensive studies and research being conducted towards its uses and ‘turmeric latte’ being pretty popular drinks.
Turmeric contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components. This further helps provide glow and lustre to the skin while getting rid of acne causing bacteria and soothing other skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
As for Matcha, it is extremely high in antioxidants, 10 times more than normal green tea leaves, 5 times more than spinach and can give your skin the flawless glow when used in a face pack. It is also a powerhouse of catechins and vitamins A, C, K and B-complex. And guess what – it works wonders as a fighter against Acne. The EGCG antioxidant in matcha green tea powder has strong anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, which fight the sebum and bacteria that can cause acne
Turmeric & Matcha Face Packs or Masks
For acne prone skin, turmeric can be combined with Matcha or other anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients like honey, neem, tea tree oil and aloe vera. Luke warm water can be added to make the mask reach a consistency that it makes it convenient for application. Avoid adding milk or any kind of cream-based ingredient or comedogenic substances to the mask. Leave the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash it off.
To ward off hyperpigmentation and wrinkles, turmeric & matcha can be mixed with yoghurt and lemon juice. Caution must be taken while putting lemon juice to the skin, especially on the face as it can be quite a harsh ingredient. This type of mask would not be recommended for daily use.
Turmeric & Matcha can also be mixed with water and used as is without any other ingredients as a form of do-it-yourself skin care at home.
However, home made or DIY face packs, while recommended, suffer from some gaping flaws, the first and foremost being home remedy ingredients in their entirety do not have molecules that can easily permeate through the skin. Further, the mere fact that the ingredients are all natural doesn’t mean they can’t harm the skin. Lemon juice in its raw form can be super abrasive upon the skin and cause severe irritation. Many find the staining property of the turmeric to be especially cumbersome.
This is why we recommend using Detoxie’s Anti-Fatigue & Anti-Pollution Glow Restore Face Pack, which is enriched with the goodness of turmeric, Japanese matcha and a score of other ingredients in a form that allows them to settle into the skin and work properly. Further, every product and formula made by Detoxie is thoroughly tested and curated after extensive research, making them safe and gentle to use on the skin. Further, the pack is easy to use, doesn’t leave you scurrying for ingredients or worrying about measurements and doesn’t stain at all!
DIY or using skin care products, incorporate turmeric & matcha into your skincare regime for a better, healthy and glowing skin!
